A sunny Sunday in Porto!

Hi there, my beautiful cappuccinos!

Since I moved to Porto, I am always saying I will enjoy the city a little bit more, I will go for a coffee or a simple walk in the middle of the week but...guess what? It pretty much never happens. The problem here is that Porto became the city where I work and I lost the tourist status when I'm there. HOWEVER, this weekend I remembered that Porto is my favourite city in Portugal, besides Braga (which is where I grew up) and decided to have a tourist day in this beautiful city.

It was a really hot day so it was impossible for me to put on pants or longer bottoms and I had this shorts I had just bought from Zara, which I was dying to wear!

Along with the shorts (that look like a skirt...couldn't love them more!), I had bought a pair of the most perfect shoes. They are heeled but is not a sky high heel so they are actually great for a little walk to the city centre (not to wear in one of those trips where explore the city in 2 days by foot...for that, you need really comfy shoes, not heels!) which was what we were going to do. Just a calm day in the city!

Besides that they matched perfectly with a basic cobalt blue bodysuit, from Bershka, that I own since I was like 16 so they were my perfect option.

To accessorize my outfit, I chose two gold statement but classic earrings, a grey and gold watch from Morgan de Toi, a little white bag from Zara as well and, as a final touch, a pair of sunglasses I bought years ago and almost never wear because they're not prescription sunglasses and this girl here is nearly blind without my everyday glasses. Yes, I know, I can wear contacts and that's what I did that day but I don't do it often because I don't feel great with them all day long.

Last but not least, I rocked a ponytail to show off my shoulders, my neck and my awesome earrings! For my make up, I wore my SPF moisturizer and just a discrete pink lipstick. And I was ready to hit the runway that is the centre of Porto!

We started with brunch at Garden Porto Cafe (check my latest post for this incredible place) where we enjoyed a delicious meal in their terrace. Once our energy was restored, we started our little journey through the city going down the Avenida dos Aliados where you have the most beautiful historic buildings (ost of them occupied by big banks in Portugal), including one of the most beautiful McDonalds ever. Even if your not a fan, it is worth to take a look inside, trust me! Plus, if your keen on fancy brands like Burberry, you will find some great stores in this avenue.

Then we went up heading to Torre dos Clérigos, enjoying some street art and artists playing in every corner, we really had a great time just by walking up the street. Porto has some magic in the air that makes it the perfect city to visit.

Near Torre dos Clérigos, you will find a beautiful and rather misterious garden, the Cordoaria Garden, and one great spot for a sunset on the other side of the road which is BASE. Go there and you'll get what I'm talking about. This area is very popular at night, in Porto, because you have the iconic Piolho coffee and more spots along the street. However it is the perfect place for a daytime walk as it sometimes have a little market with people selling cute and varied projects, it has one beautiful baroque churchs which is Igreja do Carmo and it is a stop for the electric train (one of the cutest forms of transportation in this city!)

At the end of the day, we crossed the Cordoaria, passed the Palácio da Justiça and went straight to Jardim das Virtudes, one of the most popular sunset places in Porto because you have a clear view of the river and its end where the sun sets behind Ponte d'Arrábida. Unfortunately, this garden is interdicted during this Covid season (not sure if it is blocked because of Covid or any other reason but I think it's Corona's fault) so we just sat on a bench on the other side of the road enjoying the end of our day.

Even though we didn't visit most parts of the city as there is a lot to do here and we just wanted a calm day, I enjoyed this so much. I found my love for the city again and remembered why it has such a special place in my heart.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit Porto, you should definitelly do it because you won't regret it! And if you need any tips, I'm here for you and to tell you everything I know. Stay tuned! 😉

But the most important thing in this is that I am super happy with my day in this awesome city!!!! 😁

XOXO,

Bárbara
